On his journey, Roland has travelled across many universes other than his own. He is described as being nearly immortal: time has changed for Roland, as it has for many, and he has lived for hundreds of years, perhaps even thousands, all the while chasing his endless quest for the Tower, heedless of those who tell him to cry off.
Roland carries a few specific items with him at all times: two large guns with sandalwood hilts, made of fine and ancient silver, passed down to him from his father. A grow bag, which produces - by means of magic - what you need. Tobacco and papers are a constant, as are dried meats and a great many bullets for his weapons. His matching guns are a set, but sometimes Roland will only have one - the other will usually be in the possession of Eddie Dean.
Eddie is one of Roland's ka-tet, his soulmates and travelling companions that he is most often found with. The others are Susannah Dean, Jake Chambers and Oy (a curly tailed, weasel-like creature called a billy bumbler), and Roland values them above anyone else in the world.
His body is lean and well-kept but aging fast, and depending at what point in Roland's life you meet him, he may already be suffering from early onset arthritis. His is covered in a mean variety of scars: a lifetime of gunslinging and violence. As well as that, he may be missing the first two of his right hand's fingers, the pointer and the middle.
However, if you're reading this from Eudio, Roland's appearance is slightly different. Click here.
Roland's accent is not easily placed. On first listen, it sounds quite like an American doing a bad impression of a Scottish accent, but it's not of this world. For Roland, it's a combined accent of home coupled against many long years of travelling.
